Somerset County Woman Is ‘Fugitive Of The Week’ On Crime Stoppers

A 35-year-old Somerset County woman who has eluded police since May is the Hunterdon County Crime Stoppers “fugitive of the week.”

Asa Panatero, whose last known address was in Bridgewater, is wanted on various drug charges. She failed to show up for her court appearance on May 3 on charges of heroin possession and possession of hypodermic syringes, authorities say.

She’s described as a caucasian female, about 5’03” and weighing 110 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair.

Anyone who knows her whereabouts should contact Detective John Mulligan, Det. Frank Modaffare, or Det. Lamont Garnes of the Joint Hunterdon County Fugitive Task Force at 908-788-1129.

Crime Stoppers fugitive of the week arrested in Cadiz

A Hopkinsville-Christian County Crime Stoppers Fugitive of the Week was arrested Monday night in Cadiz after he was recognized during a traffic stop by Cadiz police officers.

Maurice Anthony Powell Jr., 22, Cadiz, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for careless driving around 10:30 p.m. Monday, according to Cadiz Police Chief Chad Grace. Powell was visually identified by officers who recognized him and discovered he had a warrant out of Christian County for first-degree robbery. He was additionally charged with giving police officers a false name prior to his arrested.

Powell was listed as the Crime Stopper’s Fugitive of the Week for April 18.

He was lodged in Christian County Jail and charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment, parole violation and giving an officer a false name.
