HAVERHILL — A sexual offender who was wanted in New Hampshire and Massachusetts was arrested Saturday evening in Haverhill by members of the U.S. Marshal’s task force from Massachusetts and Haverhill police.
Officers were able to safely arrest Benjamin Rodriguez, 45, at Oriental Garden in Westgate Plaza, where he was working as bouncer, according to police. The Marshals Service described Rodriguez as the “Fugitive of the Week.”
According to the Essex district attorney’s office, Rodriguez was arraigned in Haverhill District Court on Monday and was ordered held without bail, pending his return to New Hampshire as a fugitive from justice on his New Hampshire warrants.
Rodriguez was wanted on multiple arrest warrants in both New Hampshire and Massachusetts, according to Supervisory Deputy Jeffrey White, a spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service.

CONCORD — A sex offender and recent New Hampshire Fugitive of the Week has been arrested at a Haverhill, Massachusetts, restaurant, according to the U.S. Marshals office in Concord.
The U.S. Marshal’s fugitive task force from Massachusetts, along with members of the Haverhill Police Department were able to safely arrest “Fugitive of the Week,” Benjamin Rodriguez, 45, at a local restaurant.
Rodriguez had been featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” on Feb. 7. The “Fugitive of the Week” had been aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester Information, the Manchester Ink Link and prominently featured on the internet. The Love Life of an Asian Guy, which shared the existence of the restaurant to his over 200,000 followers on Facebook, found it plain racist:
“Soo… apparently, there’s an ‘Indian themed’ restaurant in San Gabriel, CA with indigenous decorations, Chinese food on the menu, and Asian girls with ‘Indian’ outfits. Just another case of Asians being racist pieces of shit.”
A fugitive Jamaican gang member accused of killing four people in a bloody gunbattle at a popular South L.A. Jamaican restaurant will make his first court appearance Tuesday, just days after he was put on the FBI’s 10 Most Wanted list and then captured.
Marlon Jones, 41, is accused of shooting a rival gang member at an Oct. 15 birthday party at a home that had been converted into a Caribbean restaurant. That shooting and an ensuing gunbattle left four people dead and 10 injured.
Jones has been charged with four counts of murder along with the special circumstance allegation of multiple murders, making him eligible for the death penalty.
Jones was captured Friday after a car chase on the 110 Freeway near the Adams Boulevard exit while being pursued by FBI agents, said Laura Eimiller, an FBI spokeswoman.
