US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force Arrests ‘Fugitive of the Week’ Sex Offender at Massachusetts Restaurant

On Saturday night,
members of the U.S. Marshal’s fugitive task force from Massachusetts,
along with members of the Haverhill (MA) Police Department were able to
safely arrest “Fugitive of the Week,” Benjamin Rodriguez, 45, at a local
restaurant in Haverhill, MA.

Benjamin Rodriguez had been
featured as the “Fugitive of the Week” on February 7th. The
“Fugitive of the
Week”
had been aired on WTPL-FM, WMUR-TV, The Union Leader, The
Nashua Telegraph, The Patch, Foster’s Daily Democrat, Manchester
Information, the Manchester Ink Link and prominently featured on the
internet. The “Fugitive of the Week” has been a very successful tool
that has resulted in the location and arrest of numerous fugitives since
its implementation in 2007. Additionally, the “Fugitive of the Week” is
distributed statewide to all law enforcement officers.

Rodriguez was wanted on multiple arrest warrants in both NH and

Massachusetts State Police adds 6 to list of ‘most wanted’ fugitives

Thomas G. Vargus, 45.
He is white, approximately 6’ tall and 200 lbs., with brown hair (possibly shaved head), hazel eyes, and, most notably, has numerous tattoos over his entire body, including his face, neck, and scalp.

Vargus is wanted by the Massachusetts State Police and Taunton Police for a Sept. 18, 2017 attack on a woman and her dog on Church Street in that city.

The investigation indicates that  Vargus approached the woman, pulled out a machete, and began stabbing the dog. The woman was also struck with the machete and injured during the attack. Bystanders intervened and were able to lock the dog in a vehicle to prevent further injury.

The dog, whose name is “King,” survived.  

Vargus fled the scene and remains at large. He has a lengthy violent criminal history, including past convictions for assault with a beer bottle, beer can, and mace spray.
