US ‘wanted deadbeat’ owing more than $500K in child support captured in Alberta

A man on the run for nearly 20 years for failing to pay child support south of the border has been arrested in Alberta after police said he tried to scam a Calgary restaurant owner.

Joseph Stroup, known in Alberta as “Joop Cousteau,” was located in Calgary and returned to the U.S. after he was detained by border officials earlier this month, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Fugitive on FBI’s 10 most wanted list captured in Mexico | New York …

LAS VEGAS — A fugitive on the FBI’s 10 most wanted list has been arrested in Mexico and returned to the United States to face charges in the 2008 killing of his wife in Las Vegas, the FBI said Thursday.

Jesus Roberto Munguia, 41, was apprehended Wednesday night on an arrest warrant charging him with first-degree murder and kidnapping in the strangulation and bludgeoning of Sherryl Saceuza, said Aaron Rouse, FBI special agent in charge of the Las Vegas field office.

Munguia, a former member of a Los Angeles-area street gang, was being held in the Los Angeles County Jail on Thursday without bail, according to jail records.

It’s not clear if he has a lawyer or when he might be extradited to Las Vegas to stand trial. No public court documents had been filed as of Thursday afternoon in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.

Wisconsin’s Most Wanted: Murder suspect on the run for more than a year is captured

MILWAUKE — A wanted murder suspect was taken into custody Tuesday, Feb. 13 after more than a year on the run.

US Marshals and Milwaukee police arrested Jaylind Newell near 38th and Custer. Neighbors said he was living with his girlfriend the last few months and not exactly laying low.

Officials say he shot Marquise Goston, 20, multiple times in Oct. 2016 near 27th and Roosevelt.

“Jaylind Newell shot an individual three times in the chest with a .40 caliber,” US Marshals said.
