Manhunt in Marion County, Tenn., continues as school lockdown lifted

WHITWELL, Tenn. — A manhunt is under way in Marion County for a robbery suspect who has been on the run now for a second day after another suspect believed to be his partner was captured on Monday.

Suspect DeWayne Halfacre has been added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Top 10 Most Wanted list.

Marion County Sheriff Ronnie “Bo” Burnett said around 4:15 p.m. EDT today that the lockdown was being lifted at public schools in Whitwell so all students can go home. Burnett said there was a heavy law enforcement presence at the schools to make sure students’ departure is safe.

The schools in Whitwell were also locked down for a time on Monday when the first suspect was captured and the second took off on foot.

Timothy Howell, 51, of Madison, Tenn., was taken into custody on Monday and the man police said is his partner, Halfacre, remains at large and the subject of a massive manhunt in

My guns or my ganja? Firearm-owning pot fans face a choice

HARRISBURG, Pennsylvania (AP) – The federal government says grass and guns don’t mix, and that is putting gun owners who use marijuana – and the strongly pro-gun-rights administration of President Donald Trump – in a potentially uncomfortable position.

As gun-loving Pennsylvania becomes the latest state to operate a medical marijuana program, with the first dispensary on track to begin sales next month, authorities are warning patients that federal law bars marijuana users from having guns or ammunition.

“They’re going to have to make a choice,” said John T. Adams, president of the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Association. “They can have their guns or their marijuana, but not both.”

That’s the official line, but the reality of how the policy might be enforced in Pennsylvania and other states is a little muddier. That includes the question of whether people who already own guns might have to surrender them, instead of just being prohibited from making

20 years after fire, David Koresh’s tragic spell lingers

Yet 20 years ago this Friday, this same man was one of only nine Branch Davidians to survive the internationally televised inferno on the Texas prairie. $10000 reward to help ATF catch gun store burglars

WANTED IN BELLEVUE —
There is a $10,000 reward if you can help the ATF and Bellevue Police catch the three suspects who stole 70 guns during a ‘smash and grab’ burglary.

Surveillance video shows one of the suspects run into the West Coast Armory on December 26th and go around the counter. The crook goes out of frame, then re-appears behind the counter. Then in the video, you see them smash in the door to get inside. Another angle from a different camera inside the store shows a car ramming the door and knocking it off its hinges.

The ATF says the car was stolen and later found dumped by the crooks.

The crime is exactly like four other ‘smash and grab’ gun thefts at pawn shops in Western Washington, including one in Olympia where the crooks backed up and rammed the doors.

The ATF
