CONCORD – U.S. Marshals say a woman wanted for violating bail conditions was found hiding in a stairwell Monday, less than a week after she was named “Fugitive of the Week.”

Lace Meattey, 32, was hiding under a blanket at the bottom of a staircase at an apartment in Rochester when members of the Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force arrested her without incident, the Marshals service said in a release.

The warrant for Meattey’s arrest was issued after she absconded from supervision while out on bail charged in Strafford County with drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child, according to the release.

The task force featured Meattey as the “Fugitive of the Week” on Wednesday and received numerous tips that she was still in the area, the release said.

Meattey was taken to the Strafford County jail, where she will be held without bail
