Dayton Bomb Squad called – WHIO.com

The city of Dayton’s “beast” of a parking garage by the convention center will be getting upgrades to make it more attractive and user friendly in anticipation that it will be more heavily used because of new downtown investments.

Dayton’s transportation center garage has 1,405 spaces and primarily serves the Crown Plaza Dayton hotel and the Dayton Convention Center, which it connects to via a skywalk.

But downtown’s largest garage typically operates at 25 percent capacity weekdays when there are not special events, and it is used even less during weekends that lack major events, according to a parking study.

That, however, may be about to change since the new $5 million Levitt Pavilion Dayton is being constructed across the street at Dave Hall Plaza, which is expected to attract 100,000 people or more annually to its concerts, starting next year.

Developers also plan to rehab and reuse the Dayton Arcade,

Chemicals found in West Milton; Dayton Bomb Squad, ATF called

A long-sought ordinance that would penalize landlords and other owners of properties that frequently are the locations of police calls will receive the first of two readings at Hamilton City Council meetings beginning today, June 14.

The legislation, which would allow the city manager’s office to designate private homes, apartments and even businesses as “chronic nuisances,” also will be the subject of a public hearing during today’s meeting.

RELATED: Hamilton seeks property owners’ input on chronic nuisance legislation

Here’s how the legislation would work: If a property has three or more “chronic nuisance activities” on separate days within a 30-day period, police would report that property to the city manager’s office. Such a report also could be triggered by a single felony offense.

If the property fits the profile of a chronic nuisance — the perpetrators live there, for instance, rather than being victims of the crime — the
